About This Project
Mark Francis created a custom mural and hand painted sign for Mack House Brew Pub in Davie, Florida, bringing a bold visual centerpiece into the brewery's interior. The mural is installed on the main wall guests see when entering the space, while a large graffiti style "Mack House" sign hangs above the bar, reinforcing the brewery's identity and tying the room together with a cohesive artistic presence.
The mural itself draws inspiration from the South Florida ecosystem and the nearby Fort Lauderdale area, blending wildlife, wetlands, and urban elements into a single composition. At the center of the piece is a vibrant alligator painted in rich magenta tones, resting within a stylized marsh landscape surrounded by water, reeds, and lily pads. A bird in flight moves through the scene while a subtle city skyline appears in the background, connecting the natural environment of the Everglades with the energy of South Florida's coastal cities.
What makes the artwork especially unique is the contrast between the natural subject matter and the bold contemporary color palette. The glowing magenta alligator stands out dramatically against cooler greens and blues of the wetlands, creating a striking focal point that immediately captures attention. Paired with the graffiti influenced Mack House lettering above the bar, the installation merges street art aesthetics with regional storytelling, giving the brewery a strong visual personality that feels both modern and rooted in local culture.
Since its completion, the mural and signage have transformed the atmosphere of the brewery. The artwork adds color, depth, and character to the space while serving as a natural conversation piece for guests. The Mack House team has expressed how much they love the transformation, even commissioning the additional sign and discussing future artwork for the space as the brewery continues to grow.

Design Concept
Developing the Artwork
Every project begins with an understanding of the space and the atmosphere the client wants to create. For Mack House Brew Pub, the goal was to introduce a bold visual element that would bring more color, personality, and local identity into the brewery while complementing the existing interior environment.
The concept developed around the natural ecosystems that define South Florida. Early planning focused on combining recognizable regional elements such as wetlands, wildlife, and coastal city influence into a single cohesive composition. The alligator became the centerpiece of the design, surrounded by marsh vegetation, water, and subtle skyline elements that connect the landscape to the nearby Fort Lauderdale area.
Once the concept was finalized, the wall was prepared and the composition was carefully scaled to the space to ensure strong visual balance and clarity from multiple viewing angles within the brewery. Layered painting techniques were used to build depth, texture, and contrast throughout the mural, allowing the vibrant magenta alligator and surrounding landscape to stand out against the darker interior of the space.
To complete the installation, a large hand painted Mack House sign was created and mounted above the bar. Designed in a graffiti inspired style, the sign reinforces the brewery's brand identity while visually linking the bar area to the mural across the room. Together, the mural and signage transform the interior into a cohesive artistic environment that reflects both the spirit of the brewery and the culture of South Florida.
