Waterfront Stuart Mural
About This Project
The Waterfront Stuart Mural is a large scale custom restaurant mural created by Mark Francis, professionally known as Bulk Styles, for Waterfront Stuart in Downtown Stuart, Florida. Designed as a bold visual anchor inside the restaurant, the mural captures the vibrant wildlife, coastal movement, and architectural identity that define the Stuart waterfront.
Inspired by the iconic Roosevelt Bridge and the surrounding St. Lucie River ecosystem, the composition features native Florida birds including a pelican and heron, layered tropical florals, and a vividly colored alligator woven through the foreground. Flowing lines and dynamic color transitions create a sense of motion, mirroring the rhythm of the water and the energy of the downtown district. The bridge structure runs through the center of the mural, grounding the piece in place and reinforcing its strong local connection.
From the moment guests enter the space, the mural delivers immediate visual impact. Bright color, scale, and movement create a memorable dining backdrop that enhances the restaurant atmosphere while serving as a conversation piece and photo opportunity. The artwork transforms the interior into an immersive environment rather than simply decorated walls.
This mural highlights Bulk Styles' ability to translate a location's identity into impactful, site specific public art. Rather than applying a generic coastal theme, the design reflects Stuart's real wildlife, waterways, and recognizable landmarks. The result is a mural that feels authentic to the community while elevating the brand presence of the restaurant.
Trusted with full creative direction, Mark was able to explore bold color palettes, layered textures, and expressive wildlife forms that reflect both his graffiti roots and refined large scale execution. The Waterfront Stuart project demonstrates how custom restaurant murals can:

Design Concept
Developing the Artwork
The Waterfront Stuart mural began with clear concept direction focused on capturing the identity of Downtown Stuart. The Roosevelt Bridge and native Florida wildlife were intentionally integrated to create a bold, immersive focal point rooted in place.
The color palette drew inspiration from the St. Lucie River and coastal sunsets, blending saturated blues, warm oranges, tropical pinks, and layered greens. The tones were selected to energize the restaurant environment while maintaining visual balance within the space.
Site considerations such as wall dimensions, lighting, and guest sightlines guided the composition. Strategic placement of architectural elements created flow and ensured strong impact from multiple viewing angles.
Using professional scaling techniques, the design was precisely transferred from concept to wall to maintain proportion and clarity at large scale. Proper surface preparation and high quality paints were used to ensure durability, followed by a protective finish suited for a high traffic hospitality setting.
The result is a custom restaurant mural that balances creative storytelling with technical precision, built to define the space and endure over time.

The Impact of the Artwork
Murals inside hospitality environments often become a defining feature of the space. Guests naturally gravitate toward bold artwork, making it a popular backdrop for photos and social media.
For Mack House Brew Pub, the mural contributes to the overall atmosphere of the brewery while reinforcing the creative and energetic personality of the brand.
Large scale artwork helps businesses create environments that feel distinctive and memorable. The mural now serves as a visual centerpiece within the brewery space.
