Kai-Kai Farm Mural

About This Project

This multi-section mural at Kai-Kai Farm tells the full story of the farm's growing process, from seed to harvest, through bold color, layered symbolism, and hand-painted detail. Created across four sections, the mural captures the rhythm of farm life and the people behind it. As Mark shared during the process, this project was inspired by "the most fantastic, wonderful, inspiring people," and aimed to "portray their energy" throughout the wall. From the watchful hawk symbolizing protection and oversight, to the early seeds and sun hemp vital to soil health, each element reflects the care and intention that goes into every stage of growth.

As the mural progresses, iconic imagery like the John Deere tractor highlights the tools that make the work possible, while Diane's hands planting a fresh sprout honor the human effort behind the land. Mark also leaned into the reality of farming, showing insects and critters that may cause destruction but remain "totally necessary in order to grow." The final section brings the story home with Kai Kai the cat overlooking the harvest alongside a mischievous raccoon, reinforcing the message that farming is about working with nature, not against it. This Kai-Kai Farm mural stands as a tribute to sustainable agriculture, hard work, and the deep connection between people, land, and food, and remains one of Bulk Styles' most personal and meaningful large-scale mural projects.
